Based on an image from the Bayview Edison Road in the Skagit Valley where the Sammish River flows into the bay. I’m partial to winter trees, especially when they are randomly spaced, as happened here. Different parcels of land, demarcated by rows of trees or shrubs or bramble, a low hillside in the distance, a mountain range further afield, give a sense of never-ending space—to breathe, to watch birds soar, to listen to moving water, to feel your heart pumping.
The collage is composed of a variety of papers I’ve collected or hand painted or printed to create textures.
