I did a series of small studio works recently that were both challenging, fun, and somewhat outside of my normal comfort zone. I let go a bit of the hard representationalism that I do most of the time, and experimented more with textures and a more purely emotional response to the nominal subject and the paint itself. This particular piece was based on a wide view of a river valley, as seen from the window of a train; let's not get more specific than that.
