A stylised pastel of the head of a viola flower. I fell in love with some viola flowers in the summer of 2024. I created three pastel pictures in different palettes based on their delicate and happy faces. All the work is vector art and the effects are created with different blend modes and levels of transparency between the petals.

The stripped back composition reflects the emergence of summer after the pandemic’s gloom, symbolising the artist’s journey through illness toward renewed perception. Rendered digitally and printed archivally by a Kent studio, the work fuses contemporary abstraction with botanical tradition, offering a quiet yet powerful meditation on hope and transfiguration.
