Exhibited digitally at Fox Yard Studio, Stowmarket, group show, 'The New Dawn' 2025.
This the fourth in my series inspired by a visit to the Triceratops exhibition in Leiden in 2024. The fossil head sits in front of an exuberant green and blue shield made from a fractal image I developed using an original photograph of the skull. Very happy with the overall effect. I encountered the fossilized skull of a triceratops at the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden and its massive presence - the size of a small car and millennia old - left a lasting impression on me. It led to a series of montage artworks exploring the meeting point of natural history and digital design. I processed the original image through a fractal algorithm, revealing complex, stone-like patterns that echo the deep time from which the fossil emerged. Enigmatically decorative, the work invites reflection on transformation, the speck of time we are on this earth, and the importance of both science and art.
