This large, for me, montage of my journal sketch from 14 January 2021 gave me a lot of joy and tells a story. The joy came from the fun involved in finding the best approach to blending realistic plastic tape images against the rough paper surface of the original sketch. The story, I think, when I see what has emerged, is one of anxiety and resisting anxiety. The little plant is still rising despite the ominous dark shadow of tape that seems to hold power, dominates the foreground, and breaks up the lilac frame that safely holds the images of the sketch. But, looked at differently, the dark powerful shadow is only floating past while the plant is held, loved, and rooted.
