"Perky in Pink" 54" x 36" large canvas painting is from my successfully exhibited series, "Women As A Vessel."
Blended in my art are images of modern day women and ancient urns of yesterday. I reference ancient Greek - Minoan and Mycenaean myth. Ancient urns are transformed into humorous painted images, half women and half vessels.
A metaphor for ancient women has now met its modern version in my art. These painted vessels sing, dance and play their way through life as a metaphor for present day "goddesses".
Giant pink nipples, black/white stripes and white frosting sit atop a vessel of dripped encaustic swirls making a dramatic, feminist statement.
String loaded with bright pink, chartreuse & white hot oil encaustic paint is dripped onto the round body area of the vessel. The body of the vessel is reminiscent of action drip paintings! Pink nipples and white icing are skillfully painted in traditional oil paint techniques.
This original artwork is a mirror wrapped canvas. No need to frame this large oil encaustic painting, as the turquoise painted canvas continous to wrap around the sides of the wood stretchers.
"Perky In Pink" a feminine goddess, is humourous and bold and will make people smile!
