“Back2BiZniS//mosquito song 22” My first painting since spring of 2022. As per usual, i had a lot to say after an extended break from painting. Over this break, I played around a lot with odd dimensions, which is why when I found a broken desk on the curb near my home, I knew the long skinny drawer would be the perfect canvas for my return to painting. Broken into 3 sections, the top 1/3 of the piece focuses heavily on where i was at artistically last spring. The middle section of this piece depicts a scene of me driving back to Montreal from the northwestern wilderness of British Columbia, where I had finished my summer break. Lastly, the bottom 1/3 of the piece is all about my triumphant return to art, celebrating it by expanding my style out into something new, while also paying homage to old techniques. Put the 3 sections together and i bridge the gap between where i was, and where i am going, setting myself up for a full winter of new and exciting projects.
