Tree at Johnston Dairy Road Farm, painted plein air with palette knives in Somerville, Alabama. A highly textured, 8x10 oil on standard-depth canvas created in the evening at the same location as Johnston Dairy Road Farm. Painted during the summer while my daughter attended gymnastics classes in the adjacent building, this piece was part of a busy but meaningful season of life. My friend Tammie had given me a portable easel, which gave me the idea and opportunity to paint while waiting. The wildflowers and sounds of insects surrounding the farm continued to inspire my current series on native wildflowers. Made with professional artist-quality oils, the piece is ready to frame.
