Canary Bird Rose, painted from reference photos taken in the John Denver Sanctuary in Aspen, Colorado. The beauty of Colorado’s native flora sparked my interest in learning more about Alabama’s own wildflowers. This native rose is well adapted to the dry soils of Colorado, able to survive—and even thrive—with little care. It forms dense shrubs that provide shelter and food for birds, and its bright yellow blooms support local pollinators. Painted with professional artist-quality acrylics on a 6x6 panel, the piece is framed in white, varnished for protection, and ready to hang.
