Textured Iris, painted from an iris gifted to me by my Uncle John. This piece was painted as a companion to Painterly Iris to compare styles and techniques. Here, I used a palette knife to apply thick paint and create more texture. It was fun to experiment, and people were almost evenly split on which version they liked better. Like its companion, this piece also reflects the old tradition of friends and family trading plant cuttings and seedlings with one another. Painted with professional artist-quality acrylics, the piece is varnished for protection and comes ready to frame or display.
