The photo of Angela Davis in the NYT's inspired this painting. She was being interviewed while smoking a cigarette. I love her sense of self. She was an extremely powerful woman who was an activist and a scholar. I love her quote "I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.
