Expressions From The Floressence
With the simple act of observing flowers, we have the opportunity to be reminded of the extraordinary positivity of life and living. As they captivate your senses, flowers have the power to awaken the awareness of our innermost beings. I look for the flower images that speak to me. And then I strengthen those messages by painting them. Painting allows me to uncover the stories that the flowers tell.
Figures and Portraits
Portraiture is always an amazing challenge, and it is lots of fun to play with so many wonderful tones of skin and the shapes lurking in the folds of clothing.
Googly-Eyed Snarkle Tarts
All 15 Paintings in this collection came from reclaimed canvases from a previous project. The characters came first, as I was enjoying creating these light-hearted beings. Then over some drinks, a few of my friends came up with the silly fart-related names. And eventually, I wrote little poems about each character. All of which became a self-published book - 'A Big #2" available from Blurb and I-tunes.
Industrial Captivation
While not generally perceived as beautiful, the industrial scenes found in Hamilton (Ontario) can be captivating if one takes the time to appreciate the intrinsic beauty as elusive plumes of steam race across the sky, retreating from the mighty monuments of industry. This collection of paintings aspires to have viewers take a more imaginative look as they mingle the majestic industrial complexes with resplendent colors and lively organic forms.
The ever-changing steam plumes sometimes dissipate almost immediately, and other times they linger until it’s not clear if one is seeing plume trails or actual clouds. These steam-spewing pipe-laden cathedrals of industry are monuments to complexity with perplexing organizational purpose. Part of what makes these structures so interesting is the mystery of the intricacy. While it may be interesting to know where pipes go and why, it is perhaps more fun to wonder and imagine. The captivation factor of the industrial buildings is further enhanced by the colorful architecture of the buildings, which is often brutal in scale with strange angles and catwalk-like structures strewn all around.
LandShapes
I love to explore the shapes and the colors of landscapes! When my husband and I take road trips, as he drives, I can't help but lose myself in all the wonderful scenery, and usually I end up taking lots and lots of pictures. As I sort through the landscape imagery, I look for the images that somehow speak to me, and then I strengthen those messages by painting them. The act of painting releases the stories trapped in the landscapes be and can be discovered in the shapes of leaves, or in the visual rhythms of clouds, or in the intriguing patterns of barn boards.
Lively Abstracts
My mission is to create are that energizes an environment with creativity, positivity, and happiness, which is why when I'm asked to define my unique style, the answer is always "Visual Optimism".
Abstraction gives me the perfect opportunity to create images that provoke the concepts of joy, harmony, hope, and positive energy solely through the use of color and line. Since all of my work is born from my artistic roots of obsessive curvilinear doodling, I relish the chance to let the lines freely morph into expressively colorful shapes that flow freely through my uplifting composition. Each abstract painting has its own story of positivity to tell.... it's up to you, the viewer to determine what the story is....
Mosaics Made from Acrylic Tiles
This is a very small but growing collection of mosaics. The tiles are composed of acrylic paint that has dried and been peeled up from the palette. Clear gel medium is used to affix the tiles to a panel, and then acrylic paint (usually black paint) is used to paint in the leading/grout lines. It's gratifying to be able to use some of what generally gets thrown away in my art practice!
MUKsters!!!
The MUKsters are coming to you from the whacked mind of Marco Ferrari,
and through my own interpretation in line and color.
It’s mostly a fun and lighthearted view of some of the more inglorious and MUKky facets of being human. More than likely, you’ll be able to relate to some of these guys.
Older Works on Paper
This is a collection of paintings created over 20 years ago when I was working on paper.
When I first started painting, all of my work was on paper. Starting around 1997, I started making the transition to working on canvas. Thus, with the exception of occasional ink drawings, my current work is on canvas.
Serene Yellow Spaces
This is a collection about restorative spaces that are both energizing and calming, resulting in an amazing positive atmosphere where good things can and will happen.
Smaller Works
If you're short on space, these small pieces (12 x 12 or smaller) may be just the solution to personalizing your tiny spaces! And the prices are quite affordable too!
All the pieces in this collection are for sale!
TreeCentricity
It seems that trees, ever-present in the background of everyday life, each have a unique stance, a unique expression, and a unique way to embrace the sky. I believe that a focus on trees can help to canter us and bring back into alignment with the flow harmony and wisdom of life. It seems the trees are trying to teach us ow to be strong and majestic, even with all of our flaws.
Each painting marries the abstract expression with the tree's representational framework and is sensitive to the varied environments having to do with season, weather, and time of day. Thus, this exhibit celebrates the grace with which the bough structures of trees embrace the sky, quietly plead for sunshine, sing with the wind, and keep the sky from falling.
