Portrait of Daniel Rathbun (1829-1862) of Chittenango, New York sitting with a dog by his side. Rathbun was a miller, presumably of flour. His brother, Edward Rathbun, was a flour merchant near Springfield, Massachusetts. Daniel was the nephew of Mary Rathbun Barr and Dorcas Rathbun Searing Alvord.
