I was inspired to create Forever Watchful after visiting a rather wonderful lighthouse on Portland near Weymouth U.K. Loosely based on the lighthouse at Portland Bill, Forever Watchful has a huge dollop of artistic license. My amazing Mum chose the name for the painting as she likened the work of a lighthouse to that of a mother watching over her children.
Incidentally Portland Bill the place was also the inspiration for a 1983 U.K. stop animation children's television series called 'The Adventures of Portland Bill'. Portland Bill being the fictional lighthouse keeper of a lighthouse on the fictional Guillemot Rock just off of the coast of the fictional village McGuillycuddy. The real Portland Bill, the place, is just off of the coast of Weymouth.
