Saucer, 4.25 inches diameter. Blue transfer. Printed maker's mark for Forester & Hulme. This pattern features a flowering branch with two overlaid cartouches and a frame. The frame outlines one of the leafy branches with a small songbird perched with outstretched wings. One circular cartouche features a checkerboard of stylized flowerheads and the other a stylized branch with blossoms. The border consists of a repeated, half-circular cartouche with a stylized flowerhead interspersed with foliage.

Thomas Forester started earthenware manufacture at the works in 1884 and continued until 1887/78. Forester then took Joseph Booth Hulme into partnership c. 1887 and they operated as Forester and Hulme. This partnership continued until December 1892 when Thomas Forester left the business. Hulme then entered into partnership with John James Christie - operating as Hulme & Christie.
