Soap dish, 5 x 4 inches. Brown transfer. Maker is Gildea & Walker. The printed registry diamond dates the registration of this pattern to 27 August 1881. This Aesthetic pattern features a disparate collection of animals and insects. The lid features a flying crane laid over a simple circle opposite a flower spray with a small ladybug between them. The insert features a chicken and her chick scratching on the ground, a large fly, and another ladybug. The border consists of a simple band with an organic-looking, scrolling line. The body of the soap dish features two flowers sprays, a wasp, and a third ladybug, evenly spaced around. The border is a band of alternating panels featuring flowers branches and the geometric fish-scale or wave pattern.

In 1878 James Gildea joined the partnership of Bates & Walker. In 1881 Bates left the partnership and Gildea & Walker continued together. In 1885 James Gildea continued the business alone.
