Plate, 9.5 x 9.5 inches. Red transfer. Printed maker's mark for Wallis Gimson & Co. of the Lane Delph Pottery in Fenton, Staffordshire, England. This sheet pattern features leafy stems of camellia blossoms and buds set against a dotted background.
Gimson specialized in making ware in a series such as ‘The World’ and ‘Achievements of Notable Victorians.’ In February the partnership between Joseph Gimson Jr. and Thomas Wallis Gimson was dissolved and Thomas W. Gimson continued on his own account. At the time of bankruptcy of the business it was Thomas Wallis Gimson who was trading as Wallis Gimson & Co.
