Wonder | International Photography Call for Entry

What: A projection and online photography exhibition with the theme of “wonder,” hosted by The Center for Fine Art Photography. Wonder can be a moment, it’s a feeling, a curiosity, an experiment or a discovery. It can also be the wonder of the natural world, fascinating cities, capricious animals and intriguing people around us. It is often what inspires us to take a photograph and save the moment.

Who: Photographers worldwide, both amateur and professional, working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought

Greenwich-Westchester International ArtFair 2018

What: As many as 50 artists will be selected from this competition to display their original works at this four-day cultural event attended by the world's leading primary dealers, as well as a highly-affluent concentration of prestigious collectors, interior designers, corporate art curators.

Who: International artists, 18 and older

Application Deadline: July 1

Exhibition Dates: October 11 - 14, 2018

Artist Reception: October 13, 6-8 PM

Location: Purchase, NY

Fee: $75 for 3 images, $85 for 4 images, $95 for 5 images

Fine Print: Your entry fee for three or four images entitles you to a complimentary ticket to the Greenwich/Westchester International ArtFair.  Artists submitting five images are entitled to two complimentary tickets to the event. Learn more here.

Call for Underwater Sculpture

What: The City of Pompano Beach is looking to commission an artist/artist team to design and fabricate a sculpture that will be displayed at the beach for a one year. After a year, it will be submerged into the ocean and attached to Lady Luck in Shipwreck Park. Shipwreck Park is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the creation of an underwater park system establishing artificial reefs, utilizing public art to raise awareness of the need to preserve and conserve our natural coral reef system.

Who: Public artists

Location: Pompano Beach, FL

Immersed in Abstraction

What: As part of an ongoing commitment to promote contemporary visual works of art, Ellington-White Contemporary Gallery invites artists to submit entries that explore and investigate abstract art.

Who: Abstract artists, 18 years of age and older

Application Deadline: July 4

Exhibition Dates: August 4 – September 22, 2018

Opening Reception: August 4, 3-6 PM

Location: Fayetteville, NC

Fee: $35 for up to 3 images

2018 Endless Possibilities

What: Las Laguna Gallery is now accepting art submissions for a completely open theme juried exhibition. This month, they are looking for the artist’s favorite pieces - those that you are most proud of creating or works that may not fit in other themed shows. Show them what you’re passionate about!

Exhibition Dates: August 2 - 31, 2018

Location: Laguna Beach, CA

Fee: $35 for 1 entry, $2 for each additional entry, up to 15 entries

Lies: Colorado Photographic Arts Center Juried Exhibition

What: Photography has a complex relationship to truth that leads all the way back to the invention of the medium. From spirit photography to digital manipulation, photography has had to battle with an image that includes both reality and deception. For this juried exhibit, the Colorado Photographic Arts Center is inviting you to explore themes related to lies and the effect that misinformation has on our culture.

Who: Photographers worldwide

Application Deadline: July 6

Exhibition Dates: August 31 – October 6, 2018

Opening Reception: August 31, 6-9 PM

Location: Denver, CO

Fee: Members: $30 for up to 3 images, $4 for each additional image; Non-Members: $35 for up to 3 images, $5 each additional image

October National 2018

What: A national juried exhibition hosted by 510 Gallery for works in all media.

Who: U.S. artists, 18 years old and over

Application Deadline: July 7

Exhibition Dates: October 5 - 27, 2018

Opening Reception: October 5

Location: Decatur, IL

Fee: $30 for up to 3 images

Fine Print: 2D artwork must be wired, ready to hang, and not exceed 60 inches wide or 96 inches high. 3D artwork must be self -standing or fit on a 36x36 inch pedestal. All artwork must be able to be handled by one person. No work can be suspended from the ceiling. Learn more here.


Pittsburgh Watercolor Society Aqueous Open 2018

What: The Pittsburgh Watercolor Society celebrates its 73rd anniversary with the international Aqueous Open 2018.

Who: Artists, 18 and older, working in water-based media

Application Deadline: July 8

Exhibition Dates: October 6 - 27, 2018

Opening Reception: October 6, 5-8 PM

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Fee: $40

Fine Print: Artists must work primarily with water-based media on a paper surface (YUPO and Tyvek are permitted) and unvarnished. No canvas. Mediums accepted: watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, egg tempera. Learn more here.


5 Dollars, 5 Entries, 5 Winners! —“Special” Art Competition

What: Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery invites artists to make online submissions for possible inclusion in the gallery’s online group art exhibition. No theme.

Who: Artists worldwide, ages 18 and older

Application Deadline: July 10

Exhibition Dates: July 15, 2018 - August 31, 2018

Fee: $5 for up to 5 entries

Fine Print: The gallery will choose and award the top 10 artists from each media category and from those media categories, the gallery will then choose the top 5 winning artists. Learn more about awards and entry here.


Materials Matter: Breaking with Tradition

What: The annual national exhibition asks artists who work in a variety of traditional materials — clay, glass, wood, metal or fiber/textile to submit original works that change traditional “ways of seeing” by demonstrating a break with the past or suggesting a new way forward, whether toward logical or illogical conclusions.

Who: U.S. artists 18 years of age or older working in clay, glass, wood, metal or fiber/textile alone or in combination.

Application Deadline: July 12

Exhibition Dates: October 6 – October 28, 2018

Opening Reception: October 6

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Fee: $50 for up to 5 images, $5 for each additional image

NEA Art Works Grant

What: Art Works is the National Endowment for the Arts’ principal grants program. Through project-based funding, Art Works grants support arts projects that celebrate our creativity and cultural heritage, invite mutual respect for differing beliefs and values, and enrich humanity.

Who: U.S. Artists

Application Deadline: July 12

Amount: Grants range from $10,000 to $100,000

Fine Print: Projects may be large or small, existing or new, and may take place in any part of the nation’s 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. Learn more here.


Free Portfolio Critiques

What: and the Debate Art Project are offering free critiques for painting, drawing and/or sculpture portfolios. Artists who complied with the requirements will receive input from four different professionals in the form of a brief statement from each one.

Who: Artists working in painting, drawing, or sculpture

Application Deadline: July 13

Fee: Free

Fine Print: If the work shows an evolution, it must be grouped by years. Let them know if you are still in school and if so, please include the academic level. A mission statement and bio are not required. Only finished works will be reviewed. Learn more here.


7th Annual Driggs Digs Plein Air Festival

What: A plein air festival on the west side of the Tetons in Driggs, Idaho, with the option to pay to attend a pre-event workshop hosted by Ned Mueller.

Who: Plein air painters from the U.S.

Application Deadline: July 14

Festival Dates: July 29 - August 4, 2018

Workshop Dates: July 28 - 29

Opening Reception: July 29

Location: Driggs, ID

Fee: $65 for festival registration, $300 for the pre-event workshop

The Essential | Call for Exhibition

What: A group exhibition for photographers and visual digital artists to show aspects of life that contain the most significant values of existence, individual and/or universal.

Who: International photographers and digital artists

Application Deadline: July 15

Exhibition Dates: November 2018

Location: Rome, Italy

Fee: Free

Fine Print: Artists are invited to submit 1 to 3 artworks addressing the theme. Submissions include an explanation of your work. Learn more here.


2018 Biennial North American Open Juried Exhibition

What: A watercolor exhibition sponsored by The New England Watercolor Society. All work must be painted with aqua media including watercolor, acrylic, casein, egg tempera, gouache and inks on unvarnished paper or synthetic paper such as Yupo.

Who: Artists residing in North America, ages 18 or older

Application Deadline: July 15

Exhibition Dates: September 16, 2018 - January 13, 2019

Opening Reception: September 16, 1:30-3:30 PM

Location: Duxbury, MA

Fee: Members: $20 for 1 entry, Non-Members: $30 for 1 entry; $5 for each additional entry, up to 3 entries total

Fine Print: No photocopies, color laser prints, monotypes, multiple prints, pastels or computer-generated work. Work may not have been created in a class or workshop under a teacher’s supervision. Learn more here.


A Single Grain of Rice Contest & Show

What: An exhibition that stands as an invitation to rediscover the universe through a selection of works of art of small size.

Who: International artists

Application Deadline: July 15

Exhibition Dates: December 19, 2018 - January 6, 2019

Opening Reception: December 21, 6 PM

Location: Paris, France

Fee: 70€

Fine Print: The eight artists who receive the most votes from the jury will be offered a group exhibition. The gallery will proceed to a 1000 euros purchase of winning works, or alternatively, the prizewinner will be offered a one-week exhibition at the gallery. Learn more here.


“The Present Moment” Group Exhibition

What: A group show centered around the idea of mindfulness in life and art. Whether an artist paints to escape into a flow state, or takes a photo to capture a memory, much of art is experiencing a fleeting moment.

Who: U.S. artists

ViewPoint 50

What: Celebrating 50 years, the Cincinnati Art Club is hosting an open juried exhibition for fine art in all media, except photography.

Who: All artists 18 years of age and older

Application Deadline: July 16

Exhibition Dates: September 14 - October 13, 2018

Opening Reception: September 15

Location: Cincinnati, OH

Fee: $50 for one entry, $25.00 each for a second and third entry

Dreams 2018: Exhibition and Art Grant

What: An exhibition and art grant opportunity at Gallery 25N. One artist will receive the “Christopher E. Burke Fine Art Grant” of $500. This artist’s creation will become the exhibition image and will be used on the invitation, video title screen, and all online marketing pertaining to the exhibit.

Who: Artists 18 years of age or older working in any still medium, including drawing, photography, painting, sculpture, digital art, and collage.

Grant Announcement: July 27, 2018

Exhibition Opening Date: August 7, 2018

Location: Cocoa, FL

Fee: $25 for 1 to 3 entries, $5 for each additional entry

Fine Print: The curators are looking for artwork inspired by the artist’s visions of dreams—those windows into what might be called our subconscious reality. Apply here.


SWS 2018 Open Juried Show

What: A watercolor juried show hosted by the Spokane Watercolor Society and a workshop by renowned artist, Birgit O’Connor.

Who: U.S. artists, 18 years of age or older

Application Deadline: July 20

Workshop Dates: October 16 – 19, 9 AM - 4 PM

Exhibition Dates: October 18 - November 11, 2018

Opening Reception: October 18, 5-8 PM

Location: Spokane, WA

Fee: Non-members: $40 for one entry, $20 for each additional entry; SWS Members: $20 for one entry, $15 for each additional entry

Fine Print: Only works hand-executed in aqueous media (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, egg tempera, water-based ink) will be accepted and only on paper supports. Collages must be in conjunction and consistent with water media. No pastel, water-soluble oil paint or computer-generated images. Learn more here.


BlackWhiteMetallic Call for Art

What: artlessBastard is calling for 2D & 3D works of art in all mediums for their exhibition. Though submitted works may contain other colors or accent hues, the dominant color must be black, white or metallic (or a combination of them).

Who: International artists

Application Deadline: July 20

Exhibition Dates: September 5, 2018 - October 6, 2018

Location: DePere, WI

Fee: $15 per entry, $10 per entry for students

311 Gallery Annual LANDSCAPES & SEASCAPES Juried Show 2018

What: A juried show hosted by 311 Gallery featuring landscapes and seascapes in all media. The show is open to 2-D or 3-D works of art that have never been previously shown at 311 Gallery.

Who: All artists

Application Deadline: July 20

Exhibition Dates: September 6 - 29, 2018

Opening Reception: September 7, 6-9 PM

Location: Raleigh, NC

Fee: $30 for up to 2 entries

Painting Best Practices Workshop

What: This information-packed workshop hosted by American Women Artists includes all aspects of constructing a painting from the support and ground to the final layers. Practical procedures will be clearly explained and demonstrated on how to build your oil paintings based on conservation research during the past century.

Who: Painters of all levels

Application Deadline: July 20

Workshop Dates: Monday, July 30 - Wednesday, August 1, 9 AM - 5 PM

Location: Lodi, CA

Fee: $450

Fine Print: There is no need to bring any supplies, except a pen or pencil and notebook. This workshop is designed for painters of all mediums, but special emphasis is given to oil painting. Learn more here.


Art of Armistice Group Exhibition

What: Target Gallery invites artists to submit artwork to the Art of Armistice, a group exhibition that explores the after-effects of war. This exhibition will focus on the physical, mental, and cultural effects war has on the world through the perspective of both civilians and veterans alike.

“Green” Juried Exhibition

What: An all-media exhibition with the theme of “green.” Artists are encouraged to submit work that represents the color, or on themes of environment, recycling, money, envy. Think broadly.

Who: Artists worldwide, 18 and over

Application Deadline: July 23

Exhibition Dates: September 13-  October 31, 2018

Opening Reception: September 13, 6-8 PM

Location: St. Louis, MO

Fee: $30 for up to 3 entries

Coast to Coast, a National Juried Exhibition

What: A national juried exhibition hosted by Marin Society of Artists, open to all and any subject matter, theme, genre, medium and types of expression.

Who: U.S. artists, 18 and over

Application Deadline: July 26

Exhibition Dates: August 30, 2018 - September 29, 2018

Artist Reception: September 14, 5-8 PM

Location: San Rafael, California

Fee: Non-Members: $35 for up to 3 pieces; $50 for 4 to 5 pieces. Members: $30 for up to 3 pieces; $45 for 4 to 5 pieces.

New Directions 2018: 34th Annual National Juried Contemporary Art Exhibition

What: New Directions is a premier national exhibition of contemporary art. Artists are encouraged to submit works that provide a juxtaposition of traditional styles and cutting-edge practices in all 2D media, sculpture, video, and installation.

Who: U.S. artists, age 18 or older.

Application Deadline: July 27

Exhibition Dates: October 6 - November 17, 2018

Opening Reception: October 6, 3-6 PM

Location: Poughkeepsie, NY

Fee: Non-Members: $50 for up to 3 images, Members: $40 for up to 3 images, $5 each additional image, up to seven

Clarington Outdoor Art Festival

What: The Clarington Outdoor Art Festival (COAF) is a summer festival presented by the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington. Aligning with Culture Days 2018, COAF is a platform that connects people of all ages and backgrounds in a creative place for learning and discovery.

Who: Artists working in all disciplines

Application Deadline: July 27 if submitting by mail (July 31 if submitting online or in person)

Festival Dates: September 29 - 30, 2018

Location: Bowmanville, Ontario

Fee: $25

Painting in the 21st Century

What: This is an open call to artists for an international juried exhibition at Site: Brooklyn. This exhibition will reflect the ambitious, innovative and contemporary in painting today.

Who: Painters worldwide, 18 and over

Application Deadline: July 30

Exhibition Dates: September 21 – October 21, 2018

Opening Reception: September 21, 6-9 PM

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Fee: $35 for up to 3 images, $10 for each additional image

Open Call: Artists and Illustrators

What: Artists and illustrators are invited to respond to the theme 'London' to create a mass of images to 'tile' the walls of Nolia's Gallery in London. London has a rich and often dark history. Artists are encouraged to explore the historical, cultural and geographical context of London to create a massive visual dialogue.

Who: Artists and illustrators. Drawings, photographs, paintings, and prints will all be considered.

Application Deadline: July 31

Location: London, England

Fee: Free, artists may submit up to 15 images

Fine Print: An admin fee of £3 will be charged for each piece accepted for hanging. Images should be exactly 20cm square, on paper, unframed. Learn more here.


10th Passion for Freedom Art Festival

What: The internationally renowned Passion for Freedom art festival opens once again in London at its new home in the Royal Opera Arcade Gallery & La Galleria Pall Mall. The exhibition will showcase uncensored art from the UK, Europe and around the world, promoting human rights, highlighting injustice and celebrating artistic freedom of expression.

Who: Artists worldwide

Application Deadline: July 31

Festival Dates: October 1 - 13, 2018

Location: London, England

Fee: £20.00 for each submission

Fine Print: The festival asks artists to consider 3 questions: What is freedom? How do you preserve it? How do you celebrate it? All means to present the artworks must be provided by the artist at the festival. Learn more here.


Breckenridge, CO Call for Artists

What: Breckenridge Grand Vacations, in partnership with Breckenridge Creative Arts, requests proposals from individual artists or artist teams to design and implement a monumental figurative sculpture in a site-specific, outdoor location at the base of Peak 8 of the Ten Mile Range in Breckenridge, Colorado. The subject of this commissioned work will be an artistic interpretation of Ullr, the Norse god of snow.

Who: Artists and sculptors, 18 and older

Application Deadline: July 31

Budget: $250,000

Location: Breckenridge, CO

Fine Print: Artists interested in this project must prepare and submit the following: resume, artist statement, letter of interest, list of three professional references, and six images of original completed artwork. Learn more here.


Bryan Artist Residency 2018-2019

What: A residency program allowing the artist to spend their time creating, experimenting, adding to their portfolio, while also providing the artist their own retail space. The artist will receive a $3,000 stipend over the term of the residency, paid in monthly installments of $250.

Who: All artists

Application Deadline: July 31

Residency Dates: Year-long, starting late September 2018

Location: Bryan, TX

Fee: $25

Fine Print: Applicants must be available to live in Bryan for the entire one-year term of the residency. Applicants must be fluent in English, have reliable transportation they will bring with them, and be eligible to live in the U.S. for the entire term of the residency program. Learn more here.


“Finding Your Voice” Juried Show

What: Artists have used their voice to shed light on social, historical and political issues throughout history. For this juried show, Kelwood Contemporary Art would like to hear YOUR voice, sharing your perspective. Their intention with this show is to give voice to the full spectrum of stories and experience to promote understanding.

Who: All artists

Application Deadline: July 31

Exhibition Dates: End of August through September

Location: Baton Rouge, LA

Fee: $30

Fine Print: 2-D and 3-D works will be accepted, as well as audio and video, however, audio/visual technology will need to be provided by the artist. The outdoor display area is available for exterior sculpture. Learn more here.


Spaetsommer Artist Residency: Germany

What: A short-term, self-directed residency offered by Annex:art, in cooperation with Kleindorf-art, located about 50 miles from Berlin, Germany. Residencies are two to six weeks long.

Who: International artists must be 21 years old to participate and eligible to travel to and stay in Germany for the period of the residency.

Application Deadline: July 31

Residency Dates: August 15 - October 15 (annually)

Location: Havelland County, Germany

Fee: The cost of a self-funded residency is $375/week and includes a private room and shared bath with use of the kitchen and other common area facilities. Food and beverages are extra. Monthly rates are available for longer-term residencies.

Fine Print: The program seeks applications from artists who have a specific purpose or project to be completed during the residency and whose participation in an international program will benefit his/her current career goals and funding opportunities. Learn more here.


Artrooms Fair London 2019

What: Artrooms is the first international contemporary art fair offering free exhibition spaces to independent artists, innovating the way artists and buyers meet. Artrooms Fair London 2019 takes place at the iconic Meliã White House Hotel near Regent’s Park in London. Artists will exhibit in hotel rooms to be transformed into their own creative and intimate studios.

Who: Independent artists from all over the world, working in all media

Application Deadline: July 31

Exhibition Dates: January 11 - 13, 2019

Location: London, England

Fee: £20
