When I was young, I loved drawing and creative pursuits. In college, I took the "sensible" route and completed a business degree. For many years, while working a series of demanding jobs and taking care of house and husband, I put my artwork on hold. When I retired a couple of years ago, I decided to rekindle my creative side and took up painting. I’m so glad that I did!
I have found much to love in drawing and painting. Using line and color to create visual representations of the many glorious beauties in our world is magic to me. Nothing thrills me more than to have someone be moved and drawn in by one of my works. I also love that there is always something more to learn and try. I consider myself blessed to have the opportunity to experiment with various techniques for representing diverse subject matter, and I strive to touch others through my artwork.
Primarily a contemporary realist, I paint whatever sparks my fancy. My subjects include still life, florals, figure, animals and landscapes. I strive to capture and preserve the fleeting moments of life; an expression or gesture, the light, the season, or a striking arrangement of objects.
I believe that a passion for learning is necessary to create art. I love that with every painting I discover something new about color, composition, and design. I continually seek to improve through diligent self-study, weekly classes and occasional workshops. I have studied with local and nationally known artists.
