Colonial Inn Art Selections
from Thomas Stevens
Virtual Gallery Room 7 ±2
Five oil paintings now on view at the newly opened and restored Colonial Inn.
After years of neglect, Hillsborough's iconic Colonial Inn has been restored and is now open for business! The new owners have excelled at detailed attention to historic preservation, and they are making a great efforts toward community involvement, including the local ARTS community. Original art from local and NC artists embellish every room.
Well over 100 artists responded to the Inn's call for artists earlier this year, with around 35 artists accepted. I am honored to be one of those artists, with five works exhibited. Two of my paintings - "Occaneechi Rebuilding" and "Burnside Field" can be found in the bar. The other paintings are located in various guestrooms. The large "King Street Poppies" painting - depicting poppies in bloom at the Masons Lodge literally across the street from the Inn - is serendipitously located in Room 7.
Artworks from all the artists are for sale, including the paintings in this 7±2 exhibit. 100% of the proceeds go to the artists. Imagine having a work that has also been part of the Colonial Inn decor!
