ABOUT THE TRANSHUMAN SERIES
The “Transhuman Tronies of the Latter Days” is a thought-provoking series that encourages us to contemplate the future of humanity and the role of technology in shaping our identity.
In a world where machines are becoming increasingly sophisticated and ubiquitous, it is important to consider what it means to be human. Cesario's work challenges us to think about the blurred lines between man and machine, and to consider the potential consequences of our increasing reliance on technology.
Description:
The Transhuman Tronies of the Latter Days is a series of TEN diptychs (digital portraits) by artist Sergio Cesario that explores a fusion of genetics and robotics and tells an allegorical story about civilization. Cesario uses a variety of digital source materials, including original photographs, public domain images, and AI-generated imagery, to create his works. Each portrait depicts either a known persona or a random individual transformed into an archetype, or a futuristic, robotic figure.
The series serves to open a dialogue on the increasing interplay of technology into the spheres of human biology and society. From enhancing human body functions to incorporating artificial intelligence, the portraits highlight the rapid pace of human robotization and the conundrum sanctification of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI*).
The collection also raises important questions about the nature of human identity and the blurred lines between man, machine and spirituality.
