The rock ledge did not get painted in this piece because I was standing on it. I didn't see any beavers while the plein air group was painting on this private property but the dam seemed well maintained. I feel that my efforts to become comfortable with a purposefully abstract break-up of space paid off in this painting, giving me the confidence to put the attention-demanding dam all the way over near the corner of the composition.
