I had a conversation with a Belarusian a couple of weeks back. He was open-hearted, open-minded, full of warmth, gentleness, strength and creativity. Instantly likeable.
He also happens to be gay.
So what?
Exactly. So what.
And yet this one aspect of his being so frightened his mother that she cut him out of her life the moment he had the courage to tell her.
Simply because he chose not to deny who and how he loves.
This piece is inspired from that conversation.
For me, a kiss is a form of connection in which we can dissolve into feeling and lose our sense of self. Who we are doesn’t matter.
I cropped the faces tightly so that all we see is two mouths in union, a nose and an eye. We all have these features. It doesn’t matter whether they’re masculine or feminine.
We’re all human and we’re all entitled to live unabashedly from our hearts.
