Cascade: collective thirst is a 27-foot-long suspended sculpture made form approximately 85K post-consumer aluminum tabs, safety pins and key rings. Aluminum can tabs chained together with safety pins are layered and massed to create a dense sparkling texture. The long chains of can-tabs, reflective, glinting in the light, awaken a sense of wonder in those who pass by. When a viewer draws near, closer inspection reveals that the waterfall is made from tens of thousands of aluminum can tabs, one of many common disposable items that continuously pass through our hands.
