The Late Dockyard Superintendent, George McGoogan during the 1977-1983 rebuild of the historic 18-foot skiff ‘YENDYS’ at Cockatoo Island (formerly the Royal Australian Naval Dockyard), Sydney, Australia (c.1983).
Permission to recreate an original black & white image published in The Balmain Book (1985) as a painting was granted to the Artist by Photographer, David Liddle. Permission to access the largely unaltered building was granted to the Artist by a Cockatoo Island Ranger in 2019.
The beautifully restored skiff is now part of the Sydney Heritage Fleet small boat collection and is located and displayed at Wharf 7, Pyrmont, Sydney, Australia.
...and the name YENDYS? It's just 'SYDNEY' in reverse!
