For many years Gary and his wife Pauline Roberts have displayed Gary’s model boats at the biennial Australian Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart, Tasmania.
This hand-crafted Clyde Puffer was Gary’s first model and although all the others live in the shed, the VINCENT DEE has pride of place inside their home in Glen Orchy, Tasmania.
Apparently there are only a few operational Clyde Puffers in existence, but these little Scottish-built cargo vessels once provided a vital supply link around the west coast and Hebrides of Scotland.
In Tasmania – a world away from the Scottish Forth and Clyde canals, Gary’s scale model VINCENT DEE is a fine tribute to his late father Vincent. D. Roberts.
