As children, sometimes it's hard to be a sister or a brother. To share spaces and parents’ attention with someone else is not always easy. That’s why I believe that having a sibling is an early lesson on how to give love.
My sister is my life long friend. I took care of her when she was little and she took care of my kids when they were little. Thoughts of my sister ran through my head as I painted these two little dancers. There is a sisterly care and patience between them. The trust that comes with just knowing that the older girl will do her best to adjust the costume.
I asked my sister to name this painting for me. I had no idea what she would suggest. I absolutely love the fact that she used the word devotion in the title. I saw devotion to each other as well as the art form of ballet while I painted these little dancers.
