In the Burgess Shale by Vicki Conley Image: In a recent trip to Canada I learned of the fossils of the soft bodied creatures in the Burgess Shale. This is a unique area as most fossils found around the world are from bone and shell. Artists render a depiction of these creatures based on many partial fossils and try to extrapolate what a 3D creature might actually look like. The creatures on this piece were drawn by me from some fossil images.
