The idea for these pieces had been playing out in a number of ways in my journal, and called for further exploring. I love the look of mountains in the distance, the way they each layer as they get farther away, how each layer has a different colour, a different character. The landscapes are an attempt to explore the calls of those layers and the distance, to look further afield - to look beyond the micro, beyond what’s close, detailed and intimate and towards the horizon, the future - what else could be out there? What lies beyond?
