This painting is inspired by an early thirteenth century stained glass window at the east end of the Cathedral.

The animals on the ark and the birds in the illuminated border are all seen (or would once have been seen) in Lincolnshire. Pictured: Lincolnshire Buff chicken, hedgehog, dormouse, rabbit, Lincolnshire Red cow, Lincolnshire Longwool sheep, Roe deer, Lincolnshire Curly-coated pig, hare, badger, fox, grey seal, kestrel, avocet, swallow, pheasant, swifts, barn owl, brent geese, peregrine, lapwing, buzzard, red kite.
