A design based on the north rose window of Lincoln Cathedral. The stone in the centre of the design is a sapphire. This is surrounded by tooled 24 carat gold on manuscript gesso made to a fifteenth century recipe. The gold roundels are shell gold (24 carat gold made into a paint by the artist) with the leaf patterns burnished to make them shine. The blue pigment is pure lapis lazuli, the most expensive of the medieval pigments.
