Thembi Elephant Painting
Thembi (meaning hope) is a framed original oil painting painted primarily with painting knives revealing interesting texture on the elephant skin.
ColorsĀ
Grays
Siennas
subtle green and gold
subtle pink on ears
Warm and cool grays contrast beautifully against a sienna background along with other neutral colors that work well in many settings. The contemporary feel of this painting works well in many home decor or office settings.
Thembi Inspiration
Thembi was inspired on a trip to Busch Gardens in Tampa. It just so happened I had a new camera and was able to capture a wonderful reference photo. Busch Gardens has more than 300 species of animals. Did you know you can take a safari tour there where you can get up close and personal with the animals? Unfortunately, I didn't have time to do this, but it is on my agenda for the next trip. If you like Thembi, I will be adding more elephants to my painting collection as time goes by. Keep watching. Animals are added on a yearly basis since I transition in and out of seascape paintings.
This painting is varnished with a temporary retouch UV varnish.
