Back in 2016, I was one of these photographers taking in the sights of the baths and the surrounding ocean shoreline.

The Newcastle Ocean Baths painting is the outcome of this visit. Whilst it isn't a representational painting of the icon of Newcastle, the aquas and southern ocean blue represent the seawater and the ochres, gold and yellows are reminiscent of the surrounding sandy beach and rocks. If you look closely you will see the swimming lane lines and small pockets of families enjoying their time at the baths.
