Tina Alberni
Alberni is a semi-abstract, phygital artist. Layers of ideas, shapes, vibrant colors and symbolism coalesce in response to present day global imbalances.
MessageThe iterative rhythm of my creative process, coupled with the contemplative act of piecing disparate elements together, became a profoundly therapeutic journey. It assumed a meditative quality, transforming the act of assembly into a form of prayer—an earnest plea for the survival and unity of humanity.
Diverse walks of life, characterized by an array of colors, religions, and political beliefs, converge along the common thread of our shared humanity.
Our world is fissuring along various fault lines: the challenges of climate change, urban sprawl, and socio-economic-political discord are driving communities and families to scatter and fragment in their quest for a new beginning and mere survival.
In my work, I employ recycled and donated fabrics and fashion items, each carrying its own historical narrative. Through the meticulous process of cutting, stitching, and deconstructing, these materials come together to weave a new story.
By embracing recycled fabrics, I offer a commentary on the significance of repurposing and mending, rejecting the ethos of the fast fashion industry. This industry, a major contributor to community displacement, also stands as a substantial pollutant of vital water bodies, once lifeblood for communities, now rendered toxic and causing widespread displacement around the globe.
