Tina Alberni
Alberni is a semi-abstract, phygital artist. Layers of ideas, shapes, vibrant colors and symbolism coalesce in response to present day global imbalances.
MessageIn this piece, a luscious paradise is still visible, and vulnerable macaws inhabit the space, but there are subtle hints or echoes of something else intruding upon it. The presence of urban development is in the air, with geometric forms subtly disrupting the natural scene. There is the sense of allure and beauty associated with paradise while hinting at the encroaching threat.
These blue and yellow macaws are vulnerable mainly due to habitat loss, overhunting, and the pet trade.
I am always intrigued by the interplay between meticulous, stylized depictions and the more gestural portrayal of subjects. This dynamic tension energizes the piece in a contemporary way, creating an interesting interplay between precision and spontaneity.
