Artist notes: I began in the studio with abstract shapes and rough marks that eventually lead me back to the shore of Reef Bay on Mayne Island along the Strait of Georgia. The art studio couldn’t bring me the May sun and dank, briny seaweed whisked up on a soft breeze. I needed to be there standing with the easel taking in the moving light, resting on the solidness of land under my feet. Abstract marks layer over and under more figurative impressions unit my brush rests and hovers to a full stop.
