This painting captures the quiet, daily ritual of sheep returning to their bedding place before a dramatic West Texas sunset. Everyday the sheep would meander all day about the ranch and return together in the evening to this place - always together. I painted this en plein air during my three week residency with the San Angelo Art Museum. I love how the simple, everyday event unfolds under the grandeur of the sky at sunset.
