I found this elegant branch of Coastal Banksia on the ground while walking in the bush near my home on the far north coast of NSW Australia. A particularly beautiful specimen capped by a lovely ripe seed pod, I felt it deserved to be drawn large. Before commencing I photographed it in my studio bathed in early morning light to capture the light and shadow patterns on the curling leaves and flying saucer shaped pods.
