In Fireside 1 and Fireside 2, I explore the intersection of warmth and structure, drawing inspiration from the midcentury modern ethos of balance between organic energy and architectural form. These pieces are rooted in the shared human experience of gathering around a fire - where energy, connection, and contemplation converge.
Fireside 1 channels the flickering, unpredictable nature of flame through sharp angular forms. The composition pulses with movement, while a palette of warm tones conveys both the fire’s vitality and its potential for transformation. In contrast, Fireside 2 emphasizes containment and calm. Its structured lines evoke the hearth itself - the architecture that holds and shapes the fire - offering a sense of grounded stability.
Threaded through both works is a yellow crackle-like pattern, intentionally reminiscent of glowing embers. This motif acts as a visual bridge, capturing the quiet persistence of heat and symbolizing the continuity of warmth even as the flames subside. Together, the two pieces spark a conversation between chaos and control, energy and order - reflecting not only the nature of fire but also the dualities we navigate in our daily lives.
