This is an allegorical piece commenting on the need to loosen the coils and crack the shell in order to wake up to one's true calling in life. It is about transformation and rebirth. All the objects are owned by me and carry some special significance: An egg (gestation), a fossilized shell from the shores of Lake Cayuga in upstate NY (passage of time), the large "lucky stone" with 2 holes bored by an ancient worm and the force of the waters of Lake Cayuga (perseverance and hard work), the bird's nest (a place for incubation and birth), the carved wooden angel that I bought in Northern Italy (inspiration and awakening), and the twine (the ties that bind us). Three drops of water (not owned). I will let the viewer interpret that. The view through the window shows the mountains I see from my studio and offer freedom into the vast but unknown beyond. The floating feather with the bloodied tip - change is not easy and can often involve sacrifice.
