This is the first drawing in an ongoing series of graphite portraits of young children envisioned as "magical beings". These portraits were drawn as a celebration of a child's ability to connect effortlessly to the realm of magic. My intent is to create a real likeness, while also showing each child's delight in their magical persona. The composition is cropped in to the face and upper body, with the wings being more of a suggestion.
