Are We Safe by Susan Detroy  Image: “Are We Safe” is one creation in an expansive project that emerged from my personal journey in aging.  In addition to the themes of the larger project, in particular origins came from experiences of extreme fires in Oregon and political unrest 
The project began in 2016 and continues with artworks currently . This piece uses my technique of using my self portrait melded with a landscape of a beloved bird refuge where I find serenity and solace. 
“Portrait of a Woman” is a n extensive project encompassing artworks in multiple media.  
The origin of the project grew from my personal journey in aging. Pieces incorporate my face with natural elements. 
After six years now the pieces in this collection include canvas, metal and paper prints as well as a few small experimentations.
