The Anthropocene is used to describe the current geological epoch characterised by significant and widespread human impact on the environment, climate and ecosystems. Kakadu is an Australian National Park and UNESCO world heritage site covering nearly 20,000 square kilometres of the Northern Territory. The Kakadu wetlands are fragile ecosystems and are threatened by invasive species and rising waters due to climate change.
