The Anthropocene is used to describe the current geological epoch characterised by significant and widespread human impact on the environment, climate and ecosystems. Kakadu is an Australian National Park and UNESCO world heritage site covering nearly 20,000 square kilometres of the Northern Territory. Nakara is a leafy suburb of Darwin which research has indicated will be uninhabitable by the end of the century due to temperatures rising above 35 degrees for more than 265 days a year.
