‘The Blue Hour’ is a reference to ‘Bluebell’ by Robert Macfarlane, in which he compares the floor of a bluebell wood to the ocean.
Blue flows at the blue hour:
colour is current, undertow.
As I was making this felt, I was interested in the gorgeous shadows on the floor, and thinking about suggesting the reflection of the trees in their root systems underground, so the ocean metaphor of Macfarlane’s poem is very fitting. ‘The Blue Hour’ sings with fresh, sparkling colour, and will bring the feeling of spring into your home at any time of year.
