Capitalism's Impact on Natural Beauty

A series of paintings exploring the impact of our rampant consumerism on the natural landscape.

Except for the water and sky, these landscapes were painted with a credit card rather than a brush, creating a relationship between our spending and the roughness of the image.

The paintings were completed mostly all in one wash, which I felt connected with the problem of how little time we take to consider our impact on nature during our artificially constructed need to buy more in the pursuit of happiness.

Most of my reference imagery is from photos I took while in Glacier Bay National Park last summer.

Wisconsin Bird Mug Shots of 2025

A collection of Wisconsin birds painted in watercolor in small scale, but their head shots (mug shots) only. One bird was painted each day of the month of October as a spin on Inktober.
