Point Bonita Friendship Album Quilt

Made by Lucy Hilty’s students and friends at the annual February Point Bonita, CA quilting seminar. Cotton, machine sewn and some hand work on 72 patches done by Lucy’s quilting students and friends who attended the annual February Point Bonita, CA winter quilting seminar. Each square’s design is the quilter’s remembrance of Lucy and her life, from her poodle Jackie to the Lighthouse on the coast. The quilters signed their patches and used the different stitches and designs they learned from Lucy to quilt their patch. The quilt has a cotton batting and purple and blue cotton print back. The frame for the varied, colorful squares is made of the same fabric’s border print. The quilters machine stitched light blue thread in a continuous script E pattern to carry the viewer’s eye around the quilt. This quilt honored Lucy for all her contributions to the East Bay Quilting Revival.
