Special thanks, also, to all who purchased paintings yesterday, supporting the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum and artists alike, making this plein air festival such a memorable success!
The back story for the title chosen was inspired while I was painting this rendering during the 2023 Blowing Rock Plein Air Art Festival. A little girl was walking the trail at Bass Lake with her “momma” as they passed by me and the water lilies as I was painting them. The water lilies hadn’t yet opened for the day and she was very disappointed asking her “Where are the Roses, Momma?”
I knew exactly to what she was referring and smiled making another brushstroke as they passed by. I knew right then that she had provided me with the name of this painting. “Where are the Roses, Momma?”
Though the painting has sold, prints are available.
