This painting began as a casual, creative get-together with my friend Jean in her studio. She brought out her amaryllis in full bloom, and I couldn’t wait to capture it in paint. Initially, I planned to stay true to the traditional red hues of the flower, but instead I broke free and embraced a bold, playful approach, using splashes of vivid blues, teals, rich greens, and fiery orange-reds to give the painting energy and life. The result is a joyful, colourful expression of the amaryllis that feels both fresh and full of spirit.
