Hi! I am an artist who often combines painting, sewing and patterns creating work about feminism and politics and everything in between.
MessageI'm inspired by the rich history of women in arts and crafts who design and paint patterns, weave fabrics, make clothes, cross-stitch, appliqué, and quilt. I combine layers of painted and printed canvases with sewing lines to celebrate this history. I often incorporate flowers and weed imagery into my work, symbolising woman's strength and resilience. Quilt patterns are also often present and the name of the quilt block means something to the piece.
I loved art so much that I studied it through graduate school receiving my Masters of Fine Arts in Painting from Kendall College of Art and Design. Prior to that, I received a Bachelor in Arts in both Studio Art and Anthropology from Centre College. I am a juried member of the Studio Art Quilt Association.
My work is exhibited regularly and held in many private and public collections.
Statement
I often make artist statements attached to the series of work I am creating. This is then available to the viewer at the show allowing you, the viewer a better understanding of why I am making what you see. If you have any questions reach out!
